Vision 2010

Two priorities are shaping our vision for 2010:

The first is the need to keep reaching out to our community with the good news of Jesus

This, of course, was last year’s emphasis summed up in our motto text:

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?................And I said, “Here I am. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8

But we want this to a continuing priority for SCC because ultimately it’s the reason we’re here and there would be a spiritual hole in the community otherwise

Our second priority in 2010 is to help grow mature Christians, who will be like Jesus and who will stay strong as Christians to their end of their lives

This is the prayer of the Leadership team for our church and it’s summed up in this year’s motto text:

And we pray ……that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way Colossians 1:10.

In line with this vision, we are planning some new activities this year in addition to our normal programme:

A weekly children’s club for those of primary school age. We’re looking to start this club after half term.

Discipleship Explored, an 8 session course for new Christians and those who would like to grow in their faith will start on Wednesday 20 January at 7.30pm.

A Parenting Course called Positive Parents will start on Friday 22 January.

There will a Marriage evening on Saturday 13 February.

A Bible study group offering more in-depth bible study than is possible in homegroups or on Sundays is also under discussion.
